Client Story #1: At Wit's End |

The adult children of Mr. and Mrs. S were overwhelmed and frustrated in dealing with the health issues of their 80-something parents. Mr. S had moderate Alzheimers and Mrs. S had tremors that might be Parkinsons. In addition, they were living in the house where they had lived for 50 years, which was becoming decrepit and, the kids feared, dangerous.
One of their daughters lived far away and the other two were busy with their own children and careers. When one of the two local sisters also moved out of the area, the remaining sister knew she wouldn't be able to pick up the slack of accompanying her parents to their doctors' appointments and was overwhelmed by their medications and housework.
The children got together and decided to call Everybody Needs A Nurse. . .

Client Story #2: A Sudden Diagnosis |

Mr. L is a 60-year-old man who appeared to be in excellent health, except for some headaches, that were gradually growing more persistent. He visited his doctor and was shocked to learn he had a brain tumor that was benign but had been growing on his acoustic nerve for years and now threatened to damange his hearing and facial muscles, if left unchecked.
The doctor presented Mr. L with a number of possible treatments, but Mr. L and his family were too upset and busy digesting the diagnosis to evaluate these treatments on their own.

Client Story #3: A Family Decision |

Ms. H. is a 96-year-old woman who lives independently in a senior community. Her family called me to ask for some guidance on their mother’s care. Ms. H. has moderate short term memory loss and wears a hearing aid, but is in generally good health.
The family related that her doctor had sent her to a dermatologist for a small spot on her leg that was not healing properly. The dermatologist had recommended removing the spot. The family was concerned that this treatment might not be appropriate for someone of her age and condition.
