Mr. L. is a 60-year-old man who called me after his doctor told him he had an acoustic neuroma, which is a benign tumor that grows along the acoustic nerve in the brain. He was feeling overwhelmed and just could not absorb what he was being told. I reassured him that while this was a serious situation, the tumor was benign and that he would come out of this OK.

Ms. H. is a 96-year-old woman who lives independently in a senior community. Her family called me to ask for some guidance on their mother’s care. Ms. H. has moderate short term memory loss and wears a hearing aid, but is in generally good health. |

Mrs. W. is a 40-year-old woman who fell in her driveway and broke her leg. I received a call from her husband who asked me to meet them in the emergency room. On my way to the ER, I made some calls to find the name of a good orthopedic surgeon, just in case surgery was going to be needed. Once it was decided that surgery was necessary, I prepared Mrs. W for what would be happening to her before, during and after her surgery. I was available to answer her questions by email or phone as well as visiting her at home. |
